Spring Forward

Today, we spring forward. As a child, before cellphones were in every preteen’s hands, I remember adjusting my battery-powered clock, which sat on my nightstand, before drifting off to sleep. I was always full of anxiety, not wanting to wake up late for school. The reality was that the season was shifting and time was running out for us to prepare, whether we were ready or not.

Christian Maturity

Do you require milk, or are you ready for solid food? This is the truth Paul presents to the Corinthians in his first letter to Corinth that we see in the Bible. When he first came to them, they were babes, new to the faith. However, their development is stunted and delayed due to worldlyness and division. They are still living as people of the flesh and not people of the Spirit. The people of the flesh are concerned with human competition and worldly wisdom. The people of the Spirit are concerned with Christ.

Now Is The Time

The author of Hebrews again reiterates the problem of spiritual immaturity, citing that those who should be experienced in the faith are inexperienced. Likewise, those who should be teachers at this time still need to be taught. How then can we carry out the Great Commission if we are too lazy to understand the power of the Cross?

Too many of us are lacking a basic understanding of Christian principles and the message of righteousness. Further, too many opportunities are being missed to evangelize and contend for the faith. The truth is, time is running out. Christ is returning. When you get to the end, will you hear “well done,” will you “finish the race?”

If you have been stuck in spiritual infancy, now is the time to mature. A faithful life is not a passive life, but it is intentional and fruitful. Now is the time to spring forward into a greater study time, a greater prayer life, a greater devotion. Now is the time to be a disciple and share the Gospel.

With Love,

Tamara

Scripture To Meditate On

“For my part, brothers and sisters, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, since you were not yet ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready, because you are still worldly. For since there is envy and strife , among you, are you not worldly and behaving like mere humans?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭3‬

“Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God’s revelation again. You need milk, not solid food. Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature — for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬-‭14‬

“We do, however, speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, because if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, What no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived — God has prepared these things for those who love him. , Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, since the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except his spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, and yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. For who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct him? , But we have the mind of Christ.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭16‬
