The Beauty Of The Palm

The Beauty Of The Palm Featured Image

The beauty of the palm is found in its strength and resilience. Palms, capable of withstanding winds up to 145 miles per hour, have roots that grow deeper, stronger, and more secure with each storm. They bend but do not break. Symbolizing victory, triumph, and eternal life, no wonder the people laid palm branches as Jesus entered Jerusalem, giving Him a royal welcome.

A Procession Of Salvation

Today, as we read about the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ in the Bible, we know what is to come. 2000 years ago, they did not. When Jesus was betrayed and arrested, they didn’t know how the story would end. As He was flogged, beaten, and mocked, they did not know how the story would end. When Christ was crucified with nails in His hands and ankles, pierced on His side, and a crown of thorns placed on His head, they did not know how the story would end. Consequently, I imagine the people must have thought His procession was in vain. However, it was not in vain; it was prophetic. Further, it was the fulfilment of a centuries-old promise. Jesus wasn’t merely walking to His death. He was walking toward our salvation.

The Beauty Of Our Assurance

Therefore, today, when we think about the palm branches being laid at the feet of Jesus, we think about the promise of what that moment marked. We think about how He was temporarily broken but eternally victorious. We think about the beauty that lies in the hope and assurance we have in Christ. So this Palm Sunday, we celebrate that procession of salvation, confident that He secured our victory.

With Love,

Tamara

“After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands.”
