Holiday joy is underway. Homes are being filled with tinsel and gift wrap, and travelers are packing their bags as they make their way to spend time with family and loved ones with thankfulness in their hearts. This is the season for gratitude.

Grateful For Christ
Recently, I watched a video that reminded me of the power of meditating on the goodness of God. As relayed in the video, a Pastor shared a private moment he had with his congregation. He sat down to write out his list of gratitude. You know, the “write down ten things you’re grateful for today” list. However, on this particular day, it felt robotic and mundane. Consequently, being led by the Holy Spirit, he wrote down ONE thing he was grateful for. Then, he meditated on that for ten minutes. Finally, something in his mind clicked, and his heart was transformed. No longer was this a routine moment to check off his to-do list. Instead, it became a time of deep reflection, worship, and reverence for the One who had given him what he was thankful for.
As I meditate on this season, the one thing I am most grateful for is the gift we have in Christ. Christmastime is all about the Savior of the world, the gift God has given to humanity. So, as we gather with family in celebratory fashion, exchanging gifts in honor of His birth, let us remember that Jesus wasn’t just a cute baby born in an unconventional way and unexpected place. No, He is GOD IN THE FLESH, sent to dwell with His Creation, heal the sick, comfort the weary, and save the lost. This season, for ten minutes, have your own moment of gratitude. Meditate on Christ as you think of all the ways you are grateful for His birth.
With Love,
Tamara
