A New Life
When we put our faith in Jesus, not only does He become our Savior, but our Lord. He gives us a new life – a life that should reflect His nature and give glory to Him. Thus, the Christian life is called to live in the intended image of God, no longer after the likeness of man. Therefore, we strive to serve like Christ, love like Christ, forgive like Christ, pray like Christ, and worship like Christ. We are to live like Christ. Consequently, the knowledge and conviction of Jesus should rule our hearts, as demonstrated by kindness, compassion, and humility. Further, our new self recognizes that we are members of one body, not separated by race or class. We do not live as the world lives, for we are set apart. This is the Christian way, this is the Christian life.
So again, I ask you, what rules your heart? Are you bearing fruit of the Holy Spirit or fruit of the world? Is your mind set on heavenly things or earthly desires? Do you long for God’s glory or your own? Does the word of Christ dwell in you?
