God Doesn’t Change Like The Seasons

October is perhaps the most colorful time of year. As the leaves transform and fall to the ground, they line the streets, forming a picturesque backdrop perfect for a fall photoshoot. The changing of leaves signifies a change of the seasons. It is a reminder to reflect on what has been and prepare for what will be. Unlike this beautiful time of transition, God doesn’t change like the seasons or the times. And for that, I’m grateful.

The Color Of Change

The Word tells us that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His nature and Word are steadfast. Even when we are faithless, God remains faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). Therefore, we can put our hope in Him. Unlike man, His truth never changes. The only one who is permanent is the One who created all. He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:17). All will pass away but He remains (Hebrews 1:11). That is good news.

It’s good news because we serve a God whose promises are eternal. Our hope and salvation are secure in Him. This is why we follow after Jesus. He truly is The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6).

As I reflect on this time of year, I even see God’s marvelous and majestic nature working through the colors of change that are so evident in this season. His fingerprint is seen in the continuous and repetitive cycles of the earth that He created for our good. It is He who has blessed us with rest and work, seedtime and harvest. So, no, He doesn’t change like the times, but His creation of the changing seasons testifies to his goodness and mercy. As I bask in the color of this earthly rhythm, I thank the God who doesn’t change, for the changing gifts found in each season.

With Love,

Tamara
