Harvest season typically begins in late summer or early fall and ends in early winter, depending on the crop and climate. But how do you prepare for harvest? What happens in the months before?

Sow On Good Ground
Year after year, farmers take the necessary steps to prepare for the upcoming harvest season. They plan which crops to plant, evaluate past problems to avoid repeating them, and assemble equipment. They understand that a successful harvest is dependent on intentional preparation. So, taking a note from a farmer’s handbook, how can we plan for a successful harvest in our personal lives?
The Parable of the Sower is one of my favorite parables (Luke 8). Not only does it instruct us on how to live, but also to live and be fruitful.
‘“A sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some seed fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the sky devoured it. Other seed fell on the rock; when it grew up, it withered away, since it lacked moisture. Other seed fell among thorns; the thorns grew up with it and choked it. Still other seed fell on good ground; when it grew up, it produced fruit: a hundred times what was sown.” As he said this, he called out, “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen.” ‘
The Secret To Fruitfulness
This powerful teaching of Jesus demonstrates the importance of sowing on good ground: God’s ground. Reaping a good harvest begins with planting God’s Word (the seed) in our hearts. When we hold on to this seed and endure the growing pains, we produce fruit: holy fruit. Abiding in Christ is the secret to a fruitful and plentiful harvest in our lives. It is through our intentional surrender and submission that we experience His transforming power. Our preparation season is active, eagerly anticipating the growth that God gives to those who are faithful. And we not only prepare for today, but for eternity. For our greatest harvest will be received in heaven as we cast our crowns before the Lord.
A Holy Harvest
Only God can produce a holy harvest. So continue to seek Him, trust and study His Word, as you actively cultivate your faith and character. Prepare for a fruitful bounty only the Spirit can produce.
With Love,
Tamara
Scripture To Meditate On
‘They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest. ‘
‘I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me. ‘
‘But the seed in the good ground — these are the ones who, having heard the word with an honest and good heart, hold on to it and by enduring, produce fruit. ‘
