Back To School Prayer Points For Your Child

School is back in session. At least in Georgia, it is. As a new Kindergarten mom, my prayers have been heavily focused on her experience, school, and the community. If you have little ones heading to the classroom this year, below are some back-to-school prayer points for your child.

Pray For Your Child’s Transition

Whether your child or children are entering school for the first time, like mine, or a new grade, pray for a smooth transition. Each year is a new year full of fresh opportunities and even challenges. Perhaps they are meeting new teachers and making more friends. Pray that they will transition into this new season with ease and joy.

Safety

Pray for the safety of your child, the school, and the community. Unfortunately, school safety is a much bigger concern today than when I was growing up. This is a constant prayer point for me. I ask God to cover the children, the staff, and even their travel. I ask that no harm comes to them and they remain alert and proactive to ensure the safety of all.

Wellbeing

Schools, or any place that holds youth, are known to harbor germs. So I ask for healthy bodies and healthy practices. Further, I ask for healthy minds and spirits as they spend their day learning and laughing with their teachers and friends. May they grow in wisdom, strength, and emotional intelligence.

Friendships

Relationships are budding in the classroom. Some friendships may last for a season, and others a lifetime. It is my hope that these relationships are healthy, fruitful, and point to Christ.

Community

Let’s not forget the community their school serves. From the crossing guard to the mom-and-pop shop, cover them in prayer as well. Pray for grace, protection, good influence, and a healthy partnership between the community and school.

Their Light

As Christians, we are called to be light in the world, and that extends to our children as well. It is my constant petition that my child knows and loves the Lord from an early age, and the Godly lessons we are teaching her shine through in who she is and what she does.

Pray For Your Heart

Entrusting your children to others is never easy. Going from a preschool homeschooling mama to sending my daughter to kindergarten has felt like a major jump. Even with all of my research and due diligence, it’s still hard to let go. So I’ve been asking God to steady my heart and give me peace. Ultimately, He is our protector, guide, and comfort. I also think it is important for us to have hearts that are willing to serve, support, and understand. As someone who worked in the education system, the job is no easy feat. Just as the teachers and staff are coming alongside us to help nurture our children, let’s come alongside them.

I pray that this school year is full of joy, hope, and growth for your children, their schools, and communities.

With Love,

Tamara
