We don’t like to wait. Waiting is hard. Technology makes it harder. Our attention spans are shorter. We are in a rush and want immediate results, change, growth, and blessings. At times, waiting confidently on God can seem impossible.

What I’m Learning About Waiting
When I launched the Before I Sleep podcast, I realized I could have waited until I had the assurance that more people would listen, watch, and share. But what about the people who will listen now? Or the people who will watch now. Aren’t the people who will share now worthy?
And what about you? Has God told you to do something, but you’re waiting for your idea of perfection to begin? But what about what God is doing in you in the beginning? What about what God is teaching you? What if God is building your Godly confidence in this season? What if this is the foundation? We often struggle with waiting because we want right-now results. But God isn’t a microwave Father.
Motherhood The Teacher
Motherhood has been my greatest teacher. There are so many lessons I have experienced even in the mundane and repetitive days of changing diapers or making homemade baby food. My child did not come out of the womb walking. Before she could walk, she had to build the strength in her legs to crawl first. And then she learned to stand up. Even then, she still needed to lean on something to support her before she finally built up the confidence to run around the house all on her own.
I was her foundation. She looked to me for support, to guide her, and to pick her up when she fell. Four years later, she still looks to me. Maybe not in the same way. She needs support in other areas today. But her foundation has remained the same. She has learned to wait on the way I guide her. Of course, not always patiently!
How Are You Stewarding Your Season?
We always want to get to the next. But what about the now? How are you stewarding the now? Waiting in confidence is not passive. It’s active. What are you doing in the waiting season? This is where your foundation is laid so that you build on sturdy ground. When you steward your waiting season, you don’t forget about your before once you arrive at your next. You know where your support is and you know who is guiding the steps of your feet. In this season I encourage you to continue to seek, worship, praise, surrender, and submit. This is how you wait well and wait confidently on God.
Scripture To Meditate On
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.”
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.”
“We wait for the Lord; he is our help and shield.”
With Love,
Tamara
