Many of us are settled into our routines. We rise early and allow the sun to kiss our faces. The aroma of coffee fills the home as we light our favorite seasonal candle. We turn on our favorite worship playlist from our smart device to set the tone as we cozy up in our chosen space with our Bibles open and journals ready. Day after day, we set the stage for a picture-worthy “quiet time.” Yet, something still seems to be missing. Perhaps, it’s Jesus, the living Word.

The Word Became Flesh
The book of John opens with a declaration and the revelation of Christ. Jesus isn’t just a man or only a prophet. He is the living, breathing WORD of God. Through Him, everything was created, including us! The totality of God’s essence and nature is found in Jesus. He descended so that we may ascend with Him, fully clothed in His righteousness and forgiven.
So often, we close our Bibles still looking for Christ. We seek Him in everything outside of the WORD because we forget He is the Word. Our Bible time has become routine, a mundane habit to check off our to-do list, absent of prayer and the Holy Spirit. Like the Pharisees, Jesus appears, and we miss Him.
Seek Him
So I encourage you to seek Him. Seek His truth, His knowledge, His wisdom, His love, His comfort, His correction, and His acceptance. Because His Word is active and alive. From Genesis to Revelation, He is there, breathing and speaking life into us. When we fail to recognize the Word for what it is, we miss who it’s pointing to. It’s pointing to Jesus.
With Love,
Tamara
Scripture To Meditate On
‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, , and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it. ‘
‘For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ‘
