Humanity was drifting further and further away from the Lord. We were disobedient, rebellious, and full of sin. Our hearts were cold and full of self-desire and pleasure. We longed for a savior of our making, crafted by our own hands. Yet, God still loved us enough to redeem us. The greatest love story ever told is not about high school sweethearts growing old together or unrequited love that ends in happily ever after. No, the greatest love story is about God, loving His people, His creation, so much that He would die for them.

No Greater Love
Our penalty was eternal separation from the Father. A single act of disobedience by Adam and Eve bred corruption into mankind. However, our story didn’t end there. For the Father sent the Son to stand in the gap for the creation He created in His likeness. Christ bore our sins, past, present, and future. His body took the whips for our transgressions. He died the death of a criminal, although He knew no sin.
Christ came and suffered for a people who would deny Him, mock Him, and eventually crucify Him. Why? For love. God, all-knowing and powerful, knew that there would be a remnant, a people all His own. So He sent His perfect Son to save His imperfect people. Now, the perfection of Christ perfects us. When God sees us, he sees the Son in all of His glory. He covered our sin with grace and clothed us in His righteousness. We are forgiven, redeemed, and reconciled back to the Father. This is love.
There is no greater act of love than that of sacrifice and salvation. So, when you think about great love stories, meditate on this one. Meditate on how a holy God redeemed a wretched people because He simply loved them.
With Love,
Tamara
Scripture To Meditate On
‘For God loved the world in this way: Or this much He gave Or For in this way God loved the world, and so he gave, or For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. ‘
‘But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. ‘
‘I rejoice greatly in the Lord, I exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a groom wears a turban and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. ‘
