“April showers bring May flowers.” It’s rainy season. While some may think of this time of year as a nuisance, it is a gift that provides the earth and us with beauty and sustenance. But I’m reminded of another gift and that is the gift of grace. Grace is a gift that we can’t earn but is freely given. We are showered in grace, like the spring rain, producing spiritual fruit and a heart set on Him.

Understanding God’s Grace
For many, it is hard to understand God’s grace. How could this perfect, holy God give so much to us that we don’t deserve? Well, His holiness is exactly why He is able to give us such a gift. God is unlike man. He is unblemished, spotless, righteous, and embodies love. God does not change with the times nor does His Word return to Him void. He lavishes on His creation for His glory and His glory alone. Hence, only He could give us such a gift.
He chose us before we ever chose Him. He saved us before we ever knew we needed to be saved. We are saved by His grace and not our own. It is His desire that not one of us should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, we simply can’t boast in our works. Rather, our works should be the fruit of the gift already given.

- What does God’s grace mean to you?
- How does your life reflect the gift of grace that God has given you?
Scripture To Meditate On
“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — ”
