Run The Race

Run the race. That is exactly the feeling this time of year typically conveys. Many are focused on finishing this year off strong. There is a sense of hurry and expectation, eagerly awaiting the ball to drop in Times Square. We anticipate the year ahead and plan accordingly with big goals and a massive vision. Goal setting is top of mind. We reflect on what was and what could have been, all the while thinking about what we are leaving and carrying into 2025.

However, there is another race that we should be far more concerned with. This race is not about pretty vision boards or climbing the corporate ladder. Nor is it about building our portfolio or booking the next big gig. No, this race is about so much more. This race doesn’t reward you with a temporary crown but an eternal one.

The Race Of Faith

Are we running the race of faith? Are we keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of our faith, as we run from sin and run to holiness? Is endurance, perseverance, discipline, and obedience evident in our lives? Likewise, is the fruit of the spirit being multiplied in us and through us? Are we looking more and more like Christ? The awards, riches, and accolades of this world are nice. They provide comfort, opportunities, and even a joyful moment to be experienced among friends. But they are nothing in comparison to the ultimate reward of faith. So run the race with diligence, confidence, and boldness, keeping your eyes set on Jesus. Run the race and finish it.

Scripture To Meditate On

‘Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, ‘

Hebrews 12:1

‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ‘

2 Timothy 4:7

‘Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. ‘

James 1:12

With Love,

Tamara
