It was like any other weekday morning. I sat cozied on my sofa as the time drew close to 6 am. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled my home. As I opened my Bible, I paused. My heart was moved, and I worshiped as the words “rain came, wind blew, my house was built on you,” echoed from the speaker. Firm Foundation, a song I’ve played many times before. However, in this moment, my soul was struck with the weight and truth of that statement.

Standing On The Rock
If I’m honest, I don’t always respond in a way that is reflective of standing on the foundation of Christ. In fact, sometimes my foundation is quite rocky. I frustrate easily, and I suffer from anxiety more days than not. I question why me, why us, why them. I doubt if my faith is big enough. But then I remember that my eyes must stay continually fixed on Him. Like Peter, I won’t sink into the water when I keep my gaze on Christ, even when everything around me seems to be drowning. And it’s not the promise of the day that steadies me, but the one of eternity.
Glory with God is the only sure thing. The very real struggles of the day, though difficult and heartbreaking, are only temporary. I struggled to find comfort in this truth. How could we possibly rejoice in the present while only holding onto the hope of the future? But as I studied God, His nature, and His Word, I learned that hope is not merely wishful thinking. It is a guarantee, the confident expectation of God’s saving work. This is what we hold onto. The rain will come. The wind will blow. But we will remain standing strong in our faith because of who we stand on.
With Love,

Scripture To Meditate On
‘ “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. ‘
‘I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built. ‘
‘But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing. ‘
