The New Year is the perfect time for dreams to be born and realized. Perhaps a particular project has been on your heart and you finally have the confidence to leap into it. If blogging is on your mind, you may think this is the perfect time to begin. If so, here are some important questions to ask if you want to start a Christian blog in 2025.

Has God Given You The Desire?

I believe God gives us the freedom to dream. But even our dreams should be submitted to Him. When we are submitted to God, our desires flow from intimacy with Him. We begin to desire what God GIVES us to desire. Sometimes our desire is meant to serve as the foundation while other times it is a catalyst for what God has called us to do. David desired to build the temple for God. God said it was good that he had the desire. However, he was not the one to build it, his son was. One of the most important qualities a Believer can have is surrender. David surrendered to the will of God. He didn’t try to force God’s hand because he was the one who had the desire. No, he prepared the work to be done.

‘the king said to the prophet Nathan, “Look, I am living in a cedar house while the ark of God sits inside tent curtains.” ‘

2 Samuel 7:2

‘When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ‘

Samuel 7:12

‘He is the one who will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ‘

2 Samuel 7:13

What Is Your Heart Posture?

Why do you want to start a blog, specifically a Christian blog? What is your why? The answer to this question will determine your content and how you create it. Remember, as Christians, we have a responsibility to reflect Christ with integrity and love. Is your heart postured toward Christ? This question can get muddy for some because, of course, we always have secondary reasons such as fulfilling a hobby or passion, starting a career, or generating income. There is nothing wrong with any of those reasons. However, if you want to start a Christian blog, the foundation of your WHY should be rooted in Christ and His Word.

Who Will You Serve?

Followers of Christ are referred to as THE BODY because we all have different functions. God has made every one of us unique and assigns our call as He sees fit. So who is God calling you to? Will you serve women, men, or both, young adults or parents with young children, leaders or encourage The Body as a whole?

What Is Your Capacity?

This is a really important question all new bloggers should ask themselves. What is your capacity? Some may think that blogging is just a pastime hobby. It can be. But even so, it takes diligence, patience, preparation, and organization. How much time do you have to commit to your blog? When will you write, where will you write, and how will you market it? Remember, there’s also research, photo selection, editing, and SEO to consider. How much time can you commit to your blog? This will determine how often you write and post.

Are You Prepared To Endure?

Endurance is a muscle that must be strengthened. You will have to endure the growing pains of starting a new blog such as learning keywords, SEO, analytics, and staying on top of Google changes. There may be the occasional technical challenge such as your website crashing or a city-wide power outage when you’re up against a deadline. Trust me it happens and I’ve been there! But you may also face challenges that are unique to Christian bloggers. You may be challenged or even mocked for sharing God’s Word. All of these challenges can feel overwhelming but this is when you remember your WHY. Your WHY will carry you through. It will remind you of WHO you are ultimately serving, and His sacrifice. Our endurance on earth is nothing compared to what Christ endured for our salvation.

‘And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, ‘

Romans 5:3

‘endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. ‘

Romans 5:4

Run The Race

My encouragement to all Believers is to run your race. Whether God is calling you to start a Christian blog or write a book, stay on the path that He has for you. Continue to seek Him and His righteousness. Lean on Him for comfort and counsel. Surrender and trust in Him.

I would love to hear all about your new blog. Comment below so I can follow along on your journey!

With Love,
