Fireworks rang out, and confetti sprinkled the air. Highlight reels were posted, and lovers shared a kiss at midnight. Across the globe, we brought in the New Year with much celebration and fanfare. And while this season brings a renewed sense of hope, offering fresh perspective and opportunities, another hope is always near. That hope is God. Although we celebrate the New Year, we still serve the same God.

An Unchanging God
‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. ‘
‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. ‘
Throughout time, God has remained the same. He is unchanging. From generation to generation, through war and peace, economic wealth and decline, God’s nature remains steadfast. He is righteous when we are unrighteous, holy when we are unholy, and faithful when we are unfaithful. That is good news for us. Because we serve a God who does not bend to the will of men, no, all of His creation will bow to Him.
Our hope is secure because of the consistency of God. In a rapidly changing world, there is security in a God that is immutable. What He says is good will always be good, what He deems unrighteous will always be unrighteous, and what He promises will always be promised.
New Expectations
You may be walking into this year with new expectations for health, family, career, or relationships. Perhaps you have already begun to work on your vision board with high hopes for what 2025 can bring. Know that your expectations of God can remain the same. Year after year you can trust Him, seek Him, lean on Him, find comfort in Him, worship Him, gain wisdom and understanding from Him, and surrender to Him. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
