Who is Jesus to you? Is He a figment of a cultural tradition that you were raised in? Or perhaps a man who once roamed the earth and was regarded as a prophet? Is He someone you sometimes pray to but doubt if you believe in? Is He only your savior or is Jesus your Lord too?

The Distinction
Jesus is the savior of the world. The good news of the Gospel is proclaimed in a Sunday morning sanctuary, sung about on a worship album, and read aloud from a children’s Bible. Many believers accept Jesus as savior but do they regard Him as Lord? I’ve realized that there is a clear distinction between Jesus being our savior and Him being our Lord.
When we accept Jesus as our savior, we recognize that His death and resurrection atoned for the sins of mankind, making us righteous before God. However, the expression of our faith is not complete only in our beliefs. When Jesus is our Lord we declare that He is the ruler and master of our lives. We live fully surrendered and submitted to Him. We follow His commands and reflect His nature. He is the foundation for how we live and how we love.
Ask Yourself
So ask yourself, is Jesus Lord over your identity, relationships, finances, and career? Do you seek His wisdom instead of relying on your own? Can He correct you and sharpen you with His Word? Do you take His teachings as commands and not suggestions? Do we trust Him with our lives and can He trust us with His commission? Is Jesus really your Lord?
It is my prayer that all of us, His Body, will not only proclaim His name but imitate His nature. That we will truly reflect the God we serve in Spirit and Truth. I pray that we will live up to the title of Image Bearers, being salt of the earth, and shining His Light all over the globe.
Scripture To Meditate On
“If you love me, you will keep my commands.
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say?
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!’
With Love,
Tamara
