God is true. He is the embodiment of truth and therefore the creator of truth. As humans, we like to create our own truth. We define truth by our feelings and our experiences. And this is not to say that our experiences or feelings aren’t valid. They are. We aren’t dismissing them. But we must surrender and submit everything to God. Because if we don’t, we risk making decisions, forming beliefs, and living our lives based on our truth and not God’s.

Our Truth Can Lead To Sin
When we form our own truth, we deny God’s truth and therefore deny Him. This leads to disobedience and sin. In the Garden, the serpent deceived Eve into creating a truth that went against God’s command.
“Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”
“The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’” “No! You will certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman.”
Adam and Eve experienced a spiritual death. They were separated from God because Eve allowed her feelings to create another truth apart from God’s truth. And Adam, who was with her, the one who God gave the command, adopted the same truth because truth can be contagious, and ate too. These two humans, created in God’s image, who walked with Him in the Garden, sinned. They submitted to the very thing that God gave them dominion over. He lied. They believed him.
When The Wait Is Too Long
God gave Abraham a promise. However, he and Sarah tried to fulfill the promise themselves and that created another set of circumstances that they weren’t happy with either. In the waiting, Abraham and Sarah formed their truth based on their circumstances. Based on their reality. Here’s the thing, their reality was not false. They were old! It did seem to be inconceivable that they would have a child. But GOD’s TRUTH is ALWAYS greater than our circumstances. He is not a man that He might lie. (Numbers 23:19) His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9) and with Him a thousand years is like one day. (2 Peter 3:8)
Trust God
So trust God. Even in the waiting and the disappointment, continue to put your faith in Him and not your own understanding. For God is eternal and knows the end from the beginning. He is the Potter and we are the clay (Isaiah 64:8) and He molds us according to His perfect plan, not our individual desires.
Scripture To Meditate On
“The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
“Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,”
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.”
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
