Humanity craves security. Our society has taught us what to find security in. We look for it in our jobs, our income, our influence, and even in our relationships. But all those things are temporary and lack the eternal assurance our spirit longs for. We also like to be in control. As humans, many of us desire to plan and execute with precision. When plans fail, we identify ourselves as a failure. So we try again. We create patterns of trying to achieve as we reach for that one thing we think will fulfill us. But anything designed outside of God is built on faulty ground because God is our firm foundation. Or He should be.
I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.
As Christians, every brick of our lives should be laid in partnership with God. There are many things we can do, yet holy fruit is absent when done with no regard to the Holy Spirit. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to get to the end of my life, stand before God, and discover that everything I did was nothing. Even if I did do it in the name of God. We do not belong to a private label kingdom where we can take anything we desire and slap God’s name on it. Be mindful that what you are calling the work of the Lord is truly from the Lord.
