We need a heart check. Our hearts reveal the true condition of our walk with God, uncovering our motives, intentions, and beliefs. This is not something we can properly do on our own (Jeremiah 17:9). We need the conviction and counseling of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16). Every day you should ask, Does God have your yes?”
Can God Send You?
When Isaiah has an open vision of Jesus, he comes face to face with His Glory. Isaiah’s response was the only response you can have when you meet a holy perfection: repentance. He saw his sin for what it was and knew it was completely set apart from the Holy God he stood before. With a fiery coal from the altar of the Lord, he was purified and his sins atoned for. This was a beautiful illustration of the Gospel. Immediately, the Lord asks, “Who will I send? Who will go for us?” (Isaiah 6:8) Isaiah’s response? “Here I am. Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
Sometimes I wonder if those of us who consider ourselves to be Christian have really encountered Christ for ourselves. Do we know Him or do we know of Him? Are we a servant of Christ or a fan of Christ? Has His Word convicted us to the point where we know how Holy He is and how unholy we are? Have we truly repented? Then and only then can we give God an honest yes. Not a convenient yes, or one we want or feel we deserve. But a yes that is intended to serve His will and purpose.
Isaiah’s call wasn’t simple or easy. But his YES was because he realized who God was and who he himself was in relation to God’s holiness. The only response was yes because that was the only thing he could give that would be sufficient. I don’t think we need an open vision to understand the greatness and holiness of God. He has revealed Himself over and over again in His Word. The question is, are we opening it?
Does God Have Your Yes?
Are you living a life surrendered to God? Are you seeking Him daily and submitting everything under His authority? Does God have your yes?
Scripture To Meditate On
“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies; his glory fills the whole earth. The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke. Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Armies. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your iniquity is removed and your sin is atoned for. Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.”
Isaiah 6:1-8
“The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable — who can understand it?”
Jeremiah 17:9
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”
John 14:16
