March is one of my favorite months of the year. Not only because it’s my birth month, but also because it marks the beginning of one of my favorite seasons: spring. I grew up in Buffalo, NY so I know all about a cold winter. But as March approaches, the snow begins to melt and the temperature starts to rise. Spring is on the horizon. I love the feeling a new season conveys. As we transition we are hopeful and excited for what this time will bring. However, I am also reminded of the difference between cycles and seasons.

A New Season
A new season is right around the corner. Pretty soon we will awaken to the beautiful melody of birds chirping and enjoy the sweet smell of springtime blooms. Although repetitive, seasons are God-ordained systems full of purpose meant to produce fruit. However, I have often found myself STUCK in cycles: cycles of shame, unhealthy patterns, and even sin. Unlike the seasons, the cycles we often find ourselves in are not forward moving. Rather, they are mental, emotional, and physical prisons. Our mistakes and even emotions hold us prisoner.
But seasons are different. Because we may sometimes find ourselves in difficult seasons but these seasons should produce a holy endurance that doesn’t trap us in an unfruitful cycle. So, as we enter the spring season, I challenge you to break the cycles by surrendering your whole heart to God and trusting Him to lead you.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
- What cycles have you found yourself stuck in?
- What is the difference between the cycles you are stuck in and the seasons God walks you through?
Scripture To Meditate On
‘There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: ‘
‘What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? ‘
‘to take off, your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on, the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. ‘
With Love,
Tamara
