It was a moment that will forever be etched in history. 40,000 gathered to pray in State Farm Arena. Not for a concert or a sporting event. Not for a conference or a celebrity, but for an hour of prayer.

A Historic Prayer Meeting

What began with a handful in the home of Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell’s parents has grown into thousands gathering together for a historic prayer meeting known as Access. Local and Digital Disciples from 2819 Church came together with other faithful and hungry Believers. Some even traveled across the globe from different countries. Men, women, and children lined the streets in a wave of 2819 merch, Bibles in hand, and hearts expectant to experience a move of God.

As you entered the arena, there was a lightness to the buzzing energy happening all around you. Just moments before, the prayer team finished saturating the atmosphere. They prayed over each seat and for every soul that would enter. Once the arena reached capacity, 20,000 more poured into the Georgia World Congress Center, which served as the overflow. Still, many more remained outside the doors. And while there was some disappointment, many others formed prayer circles as others gathered in nearby restaurants to pray and break bread together. Proof that God’s presence isn’t isolated to a single event or building.

A House Of Prayer

Pastor Philip climbed the stage to welcome the crowd as it neared the top of the hour. Then, as the clock struck 5 pm, the clarion call. The shofar was blown. The sound rang out as people began to pray. A sea of young and old, diverse faces and backgrounds, petitioning heaven with prayers of reverence and repentance. The State Farm Arena became a house of prayer (Isaiah 56:7, Matthew 21:13).

Just as quickly as we began, the prayer hour had to come to a close. The worship team entered and ushered us into praise and celebration. Voices rang out, tears flowed, and knees bowed in the presence of the Lord. I felt like I experienced a glimpse of heaven. If I’m honest, I think I underestimated the weight of this moment. It wasn’t until I stood in that arena with other brothers and sisters, from all walks of life, that I understood the magnitude of the gathering. Thousands had come together, unashamedly, to pray and seek God. We laughed and cried. We prayed for ourselves, each other, and the world. Songs of praise were on our lips even as we exited, leaving a lasting mark on our souls.

A Praying Generation

This moment marked a shift in a generation – a shift that has ignited a greater hunger for communion with God and His Word. I pray that we will become a praying generation, a generation that leaves a lasting legacy of devotion.

With Love,

Tamara
